Brandon Shephard · Arlington, TX
Psychedelic pop crafted from the inside out — one mind, every instrument.
Zebra Troop is the fully self-contained psychedelic pop project of Brandon Shephard — Arlington, Texas--born singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer. Every layer of every Zebra Troop record is written, performed, recorded, and produced by Shephard himself.
Shephard began guitar lessons at age eight and was performing in his church worship band by nine. By college, he had expanded his fluency to drums, bass, and keyboards. He launched Zebra Troop in 2017, embracing his biracial heritage in the name and channeling the sonic worlds of Tame Impala, ELO, and King Gizzard into a distinctly personal sound.
Since then, Zebra Troop's "Dopamine" landed on Spotify's New Artist playlist, and Shephard has built a reputation as both a compelling solo act and a sought-after touring musician — playing bass for Ariel & the Culture (including Audiotree Live and SXSW), guitar for Pretty Boy Aaron (SXSW 2024 & 2025, tours supporting Triathalon), and keys/guitar for A-Wall at So What?! Festival.
The latest chapter in Zebra Troop's ever-evolving catalog — a record built in the hours between midnight and dawn, where pop structures dissolve into something more restless and alive.
Beyond Zebra Troop, Shephard has become a go-to live and touring musician in the Texas indie scene, lending his talents to a roster of acclaimed artists across the country.
